Executive Summary The prospective area is located in one of the three major Precambrian cratons in China, which has an Archean-Paeoproterozoic basement. Archaean basement older than 3.2 Ga has been identified recently. The LJ prospect is near the intersection of two regional deep faults. The main rock units include Neoproterozoic metamorphic rocks and Paleozoic sedimentary covers. Mesoproterzoic basement (1.8-1.4 Ga) is exposed in the surrounding area. Older basement (Paleoproterozoic or even Archaean) is assumed because of the background of the craton. Some large grains of alluvial diamonds have been found in a tributary of the LJ River recently. High proportions of the newly found diamonds are gemstones with the largest one being 268.1 mg (i.e. 1.34 carat). The area is only 10km from the dividing range. The primary diamond sources, therefore, should be within a few 10s of square km. Over 20 diamondiferous dykes occur in an area some 70km from the LJ prospect. A few thousand carats industrial stones with minor gemstones have been produced from these dykes. Alluvial diamonds have been found in the surrounding area, indicating the whole area has good potential. Due to the lack of capitals, the Provincial Bureau has shown its great interests for foreign company investments. Sino-QZ Group, through its agency in China, has discussed with the Chinese Provincial Bureau. The project is now available for foreign company joint venture.
