Joe was the General Manager Geology Projects of the AWI Administration Services Pty Ltd, which was the second gold producer in Australia, and Dr Zhou was responsible for projects of a number of public listed exploration and mining companies in Australia, including Great Central Mines Ltd, Centaur Mining and Exploration Ltd,Johnson's Well Mining NL, Quantum Resource Ltd and Astro Mining NL for some four years. He has involved in geology, exploration/mining of some major deposits of Archaean greenstone belt gold in western Australia, epithermal and unconformity-related gold in central Queensland, Proterozoic Cu-Au and Ag-Pb-Zn in north Queensland, and Witwatersrand goldfields in South Africa. Dr Zhou was a General Committee member of Victoria State, Australia Geological Society.
Dr Zhou has substantial experience in China gold, base metal and diamond exploration, he worked for the Chinese MGMR (Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources) for 12 years, and involved in Quantum/Astro as well as other Australian and northern American international company's exploration and mining of gold and diamond in China in recent years. Joe has worked on the Yangtze River porphyry-skarn Cu-(Au) deposits, gold and base metal deposits in NW China, diamond targeting in China, Carlin-like gold in SW China, and he was a group leader for the Metallogeny of East China project. He is one of the co-authors of the book "Mineral Deposits of China" published by the Chinese Government. Dr Zhou is an internationally recoganised expert for tectonics and gold mineralisation in China, and was a guest editor of Mineralium Deposita co-editing a special volume of "Tectonic and Gold Deposits in China" with Dr Richard Goldfarb of the US Geological Survey, which was published in 2002.
Dr Zhou is particularly an expert for China business development, he understands the Chinese updated exploration and mining legislations very well, and has excellent relationship and contacts with some senior officers in the key organizations in China, e.g. the Chinese Geological Survey and China Gold Bureau/China National Gold Corp.
