Dr (Gina) Guoyi Dong
(PhD, MSc, BSc)
Dr Dong is a high-profile specialist in mineralogy and alteration geology. She gained her BSc and MSc in the Nanjing University, China in the 1980s, and PhD from the James Cook University, Australia in 1993.
Dr Dong has substantial experience in mineralogy and alteration geology in both mining industries as well as in research projects in universities. Her research in the AMIRA projects of Cu-Au & Pb-Zn-Ag deposits in the Cloncurry area, northern Queensland and epithermal deposits in central Queensland was fruitful, and is highly regarded by both mining industries and academic people. During her work at the Australia National Key Centre in Economic Geology, she was invited for consulting work by many mining companies. She also published a dozen of research papers in mineralogy and fluid inclusions in some of the top international journals.
Dr Dong was a Senior Research Geologist in some of the Australian leading exploration and mining companies from 1998 to 2001. She contributed significantly to the mineralogy and alteration of greenstone belt gold in Western Australia. Her work was highly respected by the mining industry people in WA. She particularly addressed some problems of distribution of refractory and non-refractory ores in some of the world class deposits such as Jundee and Racetrack.
Dr Dong has broad experience in China Geology and JV programs. In recent years, she has been actively involving and managing many JV projects and geological consulting in China, including projects in Yunnan, Hainan, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Liaoning, Heilongjiang and Shaanxi, with Goldfields, Fury, Planet, and Eldorado etc.
